We are delighted to welcome Rev Dr David Gregory, ex-President of the Baptist Union (2018-19), and former minister at St Andrew’s and Loughton Baptist Churches in Milton Keynes, to lead our Morning Worship on 26th January 2025, at 11am.
You can find out what Dave was up to during his time as BU President here.

A former weather and climate scientist, Dave has edited ‘Messy Church Does Science’ and contributed to Messy Church Goes Wild and Messy Adventures. Dave loves enabling people encounter God through nature and the wonder of creation
One of Dave’s current roles is as convenor of BUEN, the Baptist Union Environment Network. ‘BUEN’, meaning good in Spanish – is a new initiative that aims to raise awareness and respond to the environmental crisis. “We are building a network of environmental partners across our Regional Association life who can journey alongside churches to enable them to declare with God in worship, life, and action that ‘creation is good’ (Gen 1:25).” You can read more about BUEN here.
There are video stories where you can hear from some churches and individuals about what they’re doing to care for God’s creation. One resource is called ‘God saw that it was Good’. It is a series of four films led by Dave Gregory, “on the themes of coasts, sky, trees and life, weaving stunning visual imagery with the narratives of science and faith, exploring the wonder and playfulness of creation and creator, drawing us deeper into relationship with both… in an age of climate change and environmental crisis.”
The film on the theme of trees includes our very own city! It all began in Milton Keynes where one million trees have been planted since the start of the construction of the city. The complexity of the life of trees is really breath taking: three hundred trillion trees in the world helping to sustain the balance of carbon dioxide during our climate changes – wow!
Dave reminds us that there are trees at the beginning of the Bible in Genesis and that the Bible ends with trees in Revelation.
The tree of life…the leaves of the trees are for the healing of the nations.
Revelation 22:2 (NIV)
Dave encourages us, “We should listen to the long-lived, slow voices of the trees if we are to hope and sustain our cities as long as the cities of trees.” You can the watch the film about trees here, or view it from the box below:
As the BU’s environmental lead, Dave is very impressed that we are installing solar panels and an air source heat pump. Since this is currently ongoing, a reminder that the building will be without heating on the day of the service, so please wrap up warm! Further details on this can be found here.
As per usual, you can join in virtually by watching the service livestream. See the link in our church newsletter or contact us for the link. You can catch up on Dave’s sermon on ‘Listen Again‘, or re-watch the whole service on our Livestream Service Archive.
We look forward to seeing you!
