But First Give…

Last Sunday I used Malachi 3:10 as part of the blessing at the end of the service:

‘Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!’ Malachi 3:10 [NLT]

It’s should be noted that in the preceding two verses God accuses them of robbing Him by not giving what is required of them. He says they’ve been holding back what they should have freely given. Now in verse 10 He says ‘test me on this’ – try it – and I will bless you so much more than you can imagine. God is challenging the people to give the tithe that they owed him and then watch to see if he would be faithful to his promise. God promises to meet all their needs, but not necessarily all their “greeds”…

But first they had to give in order to receive the further blessing.

May you be so faithful in your offering that the
Lord of Heaven’s Armies would open the windows of heaven
& pour out His blessings upon you…
