Generosity doesn’t have to be tough.
The words of St Paul in 1 Timothy 6:17-19 calls the Christian to a faith that is actively generous, building up spiritual rather than earthly treasures. Generosity can be the foundation of a lived-out faith because it seeks to mirror the generous love of God for the world.
But how does this apply to 21st-century Christians? What does it mean to live a generous faith? Does it just mean money, or are there other ways to be generous?
By the grace of God and good work from Grindley Architects, the planning application for the redevelopment of the Water Eaton Church Centre (WECC), i.e. our building project, has been submitted to Milton Keynes Council for planning approval.
While that is in progress, we are turning our thoughts to the resources required for this project. To help us prepare for that, we’ll be starting a new sermon series on Sundays looking at what it means to be “Overflowing with faith and generosity”, starting in May, lasting 6 weeks.
We will be covering the themes of:
- Following Jesus’ Example
- Charity
- Prayer
- Money
- Mission & Evangelism
- What next?
Remember you can listen to our sermons again or rewatch the service if you would like to catch up on any of these themes.
These sermons will be complemented by small groups for 6 weeks during the same period. You can take a look at the small group material, provided by the Anglican Diocese of Oxford, below:
The small groups will be run jointly between the two churches here at WECC. One of these small groups will be our Thursday Home Group.
Here is a list of weekly small groups that are available:
- Catherine: Monday 8:30am in-person
- Ayo: Wednesday 1:00pm in-person
- Bosco and Nick: Wednesday 7:30pm in-person
- Ayo: Thursday 8:00pm on Zoom
- Nick: Thursday 7:30pm on Zoom (Thursday Home Group)
Sign up to any of the small groups here.
Let’s continue to pray for God’s guidance and provisions as we prepare for the next steps in this journey.
