Donkey Express

Great News from the ‘Donkey Express’

Every December, a dedicated couple from our congregation run the ‘Donkey Express‘ – Spurgeon’s official Christmas Card Distribution Service.

This means that congregation members, from both Spurgeon’s and St Frideswide’s, can send Christmas cards to each other through the ‘Donkey Express’, rather than through the post. It proved to be especially valuable this Christmas, with the postal strikes delaying countless Christmas cards!

In exchange for using the ‘Donkey Express’, we often ask those who use it to leave a small donation for the work of the church, Crosslinks and other local charities.

This Christmas, nearly £200 was raised, in addition to some other direct gifts for Willen Hospice.

We would like to thank everyone who so generously responded. Donkey Express is now resting for another year!

Save your Stamps!

Sticking with the theme of Christmas cards…

With the amount of used postage stamps increasing before and after Christmas due to the sending of cards, don’t forget you can still donate them via the church, in order to raise funds for Willen Hospice.

There is a collection box for them on top of the filing cupboard in the general office, opposite the main noticeboard in the Church Centre. On the used stamps there should be a margin around them of at least a quarter of an inch, but more is fine since we can trim them to the right size. Thank you in advance!
