It is with sadness that 1st Bletchley Girls’ Brigade Company closes this week after almost 90 years serving our Church & community. Some years ago the GB Officers notified the Church that they would be retiring when they reached ‘a certain age’ and that alternative plans would have to be made. Despite requests for additional leaders and lengthy efforts to find a way to combine with the Boys’ Brigade in a way which was satisfactory to both, sadly no way forward was found.
We thank the current long-standing Officers & Helpers of the Girls’ Brigade Company, and all those who have served over many years, for their faithful service to many generations of girls & young ladies. We also thank all the current & past members of the Girls’ Brigade – it has been a joy to see so many grow up into confident young women of which we can be proud.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, we thank you for the work & service of our Girls’ Brigade Company over so many years.
We pray that you would continue to bless all those who have fond memories of their time in GB.
Grant rest to those who have worked so faithfully through GB,
and we ask you would honour the time, energy & love they invested in so many.
Grant joy to those who have been served through GB,
we ask that you continue to challenge them & make Yourself known to them.
We pray You would bless our efforts as we seek to find other ways to encourage young people to ‘seek, serve & follow Christ’.
AMEN
We are committed to continuing to work with girls, and alternative arrangements have been made to ensure that work continues; information will be shared in a future update.
