Event: Walking in Their Shadow

On Monday 16th April it will be our pleasure to host an event to launch a new resource entitled: Walking in Their Shadow. The resource has been produced by Lex Bradley as part of her Degree in Youth & Community Work & Practical Theology. Lex will be known to many at SBC as her family have long-standing connections to our Church, her brother, Simon, is currently on the Diaconate, and Lex has been involved in helping to lead our Amicus group for a number of years.

So what is the purpose of the resource:

In the UK a child or young person is bereaved of a mother or father every 22 minutes, which equates to 24,000 children and young people every year. 10% of 5-16 year olds have been bereaved of a parent, sibling or close friend and over a million children and young people have experienced the death of a grandparent.

How do you respond to these statistics and the children and young people they represent?

If you are a youth worker, children’s worker, teacher or involved with children/young people in some way, you are warmly invited to a free, informative evening launching a new resource for professionals to use with bereaved children and young people. The evening will include an introduction to the resource itself and the work behind it, a chance to use aspects of the resource in groups and networking opportunities.

Walking In Their Shadow: The Launch” is on Monday 16th April from 7:00-9:00pm, at Water Eaton Church Centre, Bletchley, MK2 3RR. For more information please contact Lex Bradley on 01908 270670 or lex@mkbt.org.uk
