New Link with BMS International Mission Worker

Nick, one of our deacons, shares an update on our search to find a link mission worker:

Perhaps it’s something that we all start to feel as we get a bit older, but to me this year is going by in a flash! How can it be all those weeks (months?) since we started thinking at a church meeting about signing up with BMS World Mission to find an international mission worker for Spurgeon’s to support.

Well, the good news is that the paperwork has now all been done and we are officially a link-up church for Benon Kayanja (pictured right), who works in the BMS office in Kampala, Uganda.

Benon is married to Dorothy and has two sons – Favour who is five and Bright, who is two. He also works alongside BMS’ partner in Uganda known as Justice Livelihoods Health (JLH) in the areas of strategy, programme delivery, partnerships, legal and financial compliance and some day-to-day admin.

I think we can all find inspiration from the sort of work that Benon is doing. Since we can’t all be preachers and evangelists, hearing that God is using an office manager who is good at admin and planning to do great things, means that maybe we should all listen more closely for God’s call in our own lives. Perhaps there is a place in the world – in Bletchley or far beyond – where our own particular, seemingly mundane, skills are needed to further God’s plan.

I have many more details about Benon, including how to contact him, so please do talk to me if you would like to reach out and say hello. I plan on sharing more about him over the coming months, and please look out for his prayer letters appearing on the noticeboard.

More information about Benon can be found on the BMS World Mission website.
