We have a great range of activities for young people which take place at the Church Centre, but the way to engage with the maximum number of young people is to go where they are: school!
Assisted Reading Scheme: in 2011 we set-up a reading scheme with Leon School & Sports College (now Sir Herbert Leon Academy) to provide additional support to students who struggle with reading/literacy. We provided a small pool of volunteers who invested time to visit the school, sit with students and listen to them read. The volunteers encouraged them when they did well and provided help & support when they struggled. Though the scheme saw great results, unfortunately it was discontinued because of changes at the Academy.
Christmas & Easter Cracked: twice a year we invite Year 6 students from our 5 local schools & three village schools to visit the Church Centre and take part in an interactive lesson which explores the Christmas & Easter stories. The special lessons are fast-paced and involve drama, games, craft, quizzes & cooking. Each session is 90mins long and fits into the School curriculum.
We work in close partnership with the Milton Keynes Bridgebuilder Trust on many of the projects mentioned above.
