Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service

Join us for this Maundy Thursday “Tenebrae” service led by our minister Rev Mung Hatzaw, which will include Communion.

The service of Tenebrae, meaning “darkness” or “shadows”, is a tradition practiced by the church since medieval times. It is a service of prolonged meditation on Christ’s suffering as the readings trace the story of Christ’s passion. A response in form of a reading, song, or poem follows each reading and a candle is extinguished each time as we ponder the depth of Christ’s suffering and death. The service concludes with the return of the small but persistent flame of the Christ candle in anticipation of the joy of ultimate victory.

All are welcome to come along.
