Holiday at Home

Holiday at Home is the inspiration of our Parish Nurse Jenny Davis. Running for the third time, the theme for this year’s event was “Under the sea”. The over 60s were greeted at the door by a lovely mermaid as well as sounds of seagulls and waves, and after registering entered the youth hall through a small tunnel which led them into the “sea”. The feeling of being under the sea was enhanced by sea weed hanging from the ceiling, a big whale and different types of fish “floating” through the hall, fishing nets decorated the walls. The centrepiece was a shipwreck covered with knitted shells and crabs.
Activities ranged from singing sea shanties, creating play dough sea creatures to serviette folding, chair exercises and watching a Jonah themed sketch, to name but a few.
Refreshments were served throughout the day, and for lunch, people enjoyed a portion of fish and chips.
The whole day was organised and run by a great team of people who brought together their gifts and talents to serve the community and glorify God. His blessings made this day very special indeed for those attending and helping.
