Called to be Witnesses

On Sunday we were privileged to be visited by Richard and Rukhsana Ormesher who led our service and challenged us to be witnesses for the Lord, wherever we are. Richard and Rukhsana are members of our church but for the last three years have been living in Colorado and attending the Charis Bible College. During their time there, they have also participated in mission trips to Ecuador and the Dominican Republic, and are now hoping to start work next April as teachers at a Christian school in India.

It was fantastic to have them with us and hear their inspiring story of listening to God and trusting Him to provide for their every need. We learnt that India is predominantly a Hindu country and not always sympathetic to the work of Christians, so please pray for Richard and Rukhsana, that their visitors’ visas for their formal interview at the school in October will come through in time, and that their working visas for next April will granted.

Richard and Rukhsana also reminded us of Acts 1 v 8:

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

They amended the verse slightly to read:

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea and SOME AREA, and to the ends of the earth.”

We too are called to be witnesses to the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ in some area, OUR area.

For those in church this week, don’t forget to give your free John’s Gospel to a non-Christian, that others too will come to know our Lord and receive the gift of eternal life. Amen!

  1. It really was a huge privilege to be with you and thank you all for a truly amazing welcome – so great to be back!

  2. And great to see a new picture of you both, and to hear about your new plans. Can you say roughly whereabouts in India you are heading? I made many trips there and know of some of the possible schools. We’d love to be able to pray for you. John & Lin

    • Well hello! Great to hear from you. Yes we expect to be teaching at a school in New Delhi. Thanks, Richard and Rukhsana
